What Hive is
Hive is a personal agent. Each registered user receives a separate server instance for the agent, world model, and connector state. You choose which sources to connect.
Data Hive receives
- Phone number and verification codes. You register with your phone number. Hive sends a one-time verification code by SMS or WhatsApp, through the configured delivery provider. Hive stores your phone number and verification attempts. Message content you send to that WhatsApp or SMS channel is processed to serve your requests.
- Registration data, such as your name and email address.
- OAuth tokens and connector credentials for sources you approve.
- Content returned by approved sources, such as email, calendar events (Google Calendar and Apple Calendar), fitness and health records (for example Apple Health or WHOOP heart rate, HRV, sleep, steps, and workouts), listening activity, reading history, chat channels, and files.
- Messages, attachments, instructions, and approvals that you send to Hive.
- Microphone audio and speech, only when you use dictation or meeting capture.
- Approximate location (city level), only to show local weather and travel times, if you allow it.
- Technical records needed to operate and secure the service.
Hive does not receive your passwords for connected services. Provider authorization supplies revocable OAuth tokens.
Google user data
When you connect Google, Hive can request access to read Gmail messages, send email when you direct it, work with calendar events, and use other Google sources shown on the consent screen.
Hive uses Google data only to provide the user-facing features that you request. Hive does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness.
Hive's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How data is used
- Build the personal context and daily views shown in Hive.
- Answer your questions from approved context.
- Prepare or complete actions that you request, such as sending an approved email, creating an event, or placing an order.
- Maintain, secure, and diagnose your private instance.
AI processing
When you ask Hive a question, the prompt and relevant approved context leave your device and are sent to your private server and then to the configured AI inference provider (a hosted model vendor) to produce the answer. Processing happens at that provider under its own terms and retention. Data does not remain only on your phone. Do not connect a source if you do not want its relevant data processed in this way.
Where data is processed
Your private instance runs on a Hetzner server in the European Union (Germany or Finland). The shared control plane and its registry run on the same class of infrastructure in the EU. AI inference is processed at the region of the configured provider.
Backups
Encrypted backups of the control-plane registry and your instance data are kept off the source server for disaster recovery, with restricted access. Backups are deleted after 30 days. A backup can contain the same data as your instance; deleting your account also removes the account's backups when they expire at the latest.
Retention and deletion
Hive keeps connected-source data and tokens while your private instance or a connection remains active. Disconnect a source in Hive to remove its local connection credentials. You can also revoke access from the provider's own account settings, for example your Google Account permissions.
In-app deletion. The erase flow in the Hive app deletes your account, your private server, and its stored data. To request deletion by email instead, contact [email protected].
Your choices
- Do not connect a source.
- Decline a requested permission.
- Disconnect a source.
- Revoke access at the source provider.
- Erase your account in the app, or request deletion by email.
Children
Hive is not directed to children under 13. Do not use Hive if local law does not permit you to consent to this data processing.
Policy changes
This policy can change when Hive's features or data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will require a new consent where required.
